A lonely lady bought a parrot, hoping for some much-needed company. When the parrot didn’t speak, she went back to the store. The clerk suggested buying a ladder, then a mirror, and finally a bell—each accessory supposedly meant to coax the bird into talking.
She returned home and added each item to the cage, but still, there was only silence. Frustrated and confused, she eventually found that the parrot had died. Just before it passed, it finally spoke its very first words: “Doesn’t that store carry any food?”
Lesson: Sometimes, success isn’t about the bells and whistles we add—it’s about providing the basic essentials that are actually needed.
